Gary Neville will be offered the chance to become a coach at Manchester United.David Gill, the United chief executive, confirmed last night that Neville will be asked to remain at Old Trafford “whether on the coaching or the commercial side”, although, given the misgivings he has expressed about pursuing a career in management, there are no guarantees that the player Sir Alex Ferguson described as “the best English right back of his generation” will take the club up on their offer.
